Burning Embers
Burning Embers is a dance film inspired by the exploitation films of 60s and 70s Europe. Filmed at the height of fire season in late Summer of 2020, it is a work made to capture our experience of the pandemic and reflect on our ever shifting world. A first dip into celebrating grotesque and stylish Italian murder mysteries, this work is a response to isolation, and the onslaught of information, and a reflection on the dramatic and visible upheaval of our political, cultural and environmental world.
A satisfying culmination of various arts. I design and built the set, costumed the cast, and directed and arranged group made choreography. I edited and scored the footage filmed by Juliette Machado with help from Elli Madsen and myself.
