Cecelia Hanford is a movement and visual artist based in Bellingham, Washington. She grew up in Moscow, Idaho, on the edge of a bright green and golden wheat field, in a small progressive hippy-filled university town. She studied at the University of Idaho, the Oregon College of Art and Craft, and Western Washington University, where she graduated with a BA in Environmental studies, an accidental geography minor, an emphasis on marine science, urban planning, dance, and art. She worked for the family photography business until she moved away from Moscow. Since then she has worked on and with organic farms for nearly a decade, and in various restaurants and cafés in addition to her membership and participation in a professional collective dance company. Architecture, space, and horror in all forms inform the creation of her dances and dance films- as do the environmental sciences, science fiction, and a healthy wandering into and across the wild and urban landscapes of the planet.
